Cérémonie de lancement du projet | ESSEC Campus 2020

The launch of the Campus 2020 project was the occasion of a wonderful evening. The whole event was inspired by ESSEC’s values : excellence, innovation, responsibility. Our public partners joined us, in particular the Cergy-Pontoise Agglomeration Community represented by its President Dominique Lefebvre, the Departmental Council of Val d’Oise, represented by its President, Marie-Christine Cavecchi, the Regional Council of Ile-de-France, represented by its president, Valérie Pécresse, the Paris Ile-de-France Chamber of Commerce, with its president, Didier Kling. These public partners passed the torch to private partners, including the ESSEC Foundation, and its president Thierry Fritsch. We will now launch a fundraising campaign, with a target of 16 million euros for this specific project. This fundraising campaign will be chaired by Gilles Pélisson, an ESSEC Alumnus and CEO of the TF1 Group. For this first stone ceremony, we chose not to embed a stone in concrete, but to plant seeds so that trees will grow as the building work progresses. We shall plant them in the wooded campus when the works are completed. The Campus 2020 project is also the first brick of the international campus which will expand on the banks of the river Oise. This is why the evening was also an opportunity to pass the torch to François Germinet, president of the University of Cergy-Pontoise, for the launch of this other project. The Campus 2020 project is not just a real estate project. It serves the purpose of the school, which is to give meaning to the leadership of tomorrow. For that, we created a work of art, which materializes this ambition. It is the tree of knowledge, a tree well rooted in its territory. Growing, it represents the creation and dissemination of knowledge. This tree also represents the eco-responsible nature of the Campus 2020 project. Now it is up to Alumni, companies, and private partners to complete the financing of this beautiful project.
